CareDuo is deliberately narrow: it answers one question well rather than several badly. These are the questions that come up most.
Common questions
Is CareDuo available yet?
Not yet. CareDuo is in development for iPhone and is coming to the App Store. Everything described on this site is functionality the app has, not a roadmap.
What does CareDuo cost?
There will be a free tier covering one Care Circle and a small number of medications, with a paid tier for unlimited medications, multiple caregivers and additional features. Final pricing is not set. Medication reminders will never stop working because a subscription lapsed.
Which devices does CareDuo support?
iPhone running iOS 18 or later. There is no Android app, no iPad app and no web version.
Do both people need the app?
Yes. Both the person taking medication and the caregiver use CareDuo on their own iPhone.
Can I use CareDuo on my own?
Yes. Reminders, dose history and refill tracking all work without inviting anybody. Sharing is optional.
How do I connect with the other person?
Send an invitation link or a six-character code beginning CARE-. They accept it on their own device. Invitations are single use and expire after a few days. See how it works.
What can a caregiver see?
Medications in the shared Care Circle, whether each dose was taken, skipped or missed, and the dose history. Nothing else: no location, no messages, no other apps. See privacy and security.
Can I remove someone's access?
Yes, at any time, and it takes effect immediately.
Do reminders work without internet?
Yes. They are scheduled on the device by iOS. Confirmations made offline are recorded at the moment you tapped and sync when the connection returns.
What happens if I take a dose late?
It still counts as taken. A late dose stays confirmable past its scheduled time, and the history keeps both the scheduled time and the time you confirmed.
Will notifications show my medication name?
No. Notifications name a person and a time of day, never a medication, because lock screens are visible to whoever is nearby.
Does CareDuo check for drug interactions?
No, and it never will. Interaction checking is clinical software. Ask a pharmacist or a doctor.
Is CareDuo a medical device?
No. It is a reminder and record-keeping app. It gives no medical advice, makes no diagnoses, recommends no dosages, and is not a substitute for professional care.
Is it an emergency alert system?
No. CareDuo does not detect falls and cannot summon help. Never rely on it as a medical alert service.
Does CareDuo sell my data?
No. CareDuo does not sell personal data and has no advertising, insurer, employer or pharmacy integrations. See the privacy policy.
Can several family members follow one person?
Yes. A recipient can invite more than one caregiver, and all of them see the same day and receive the same alerts.
Can I track medication for two different people?
Each person's medication lives in their own Care Circle, on their own account. You can be a caregiver in more than one circle.
Does it sync with Apple Health?
Not currently. CareDuo keeps its own record of doses.
How do I delete my data?
Deleting your account removes your medications and dose history. Write to the support address below and see the privacy policy for what is retained and for how long.
